You have a date, a venue and a room full of people to take care of, and the music is the piece that decides how the whole night feels. Sunny Jazz Band plays weddings, corporate events and private celebrations across Los Angeles, in configurations that run from a solo saxophone at a cocktail hour to a ten piece on a ballroom stage. We are a women owned Los Angeles band, and every booking is built around your run of show rather than a fixed package.

Most of what we do in LA falls into four buckets, and the music is built differently for each one.
Corporate events. Galas, holiday parties, sales kickoffs, brand activations, client receptions, awards dinners and conference welcome parties. Live musicians read a corporate room in a way a playlist cannot, and they hold the energy through the awkward stretch between the last speech and the first drink refill. Weddings. Ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and the dance set, covered by one band with one sound system. Weddings have their own timeline and their own set of decisions, so we keep the detail on the Los Angeles wedding jazz band page.
Private parties. Birthdays, milestone anniversaries, engagement parties, holiday dinners at home and estate events across the Westside and the Valley. More on the private events page.
Nonprofit and community events. Fundraising galas, donor receptions and cultural evenings, where the band needs to be present without ever competing with the program.
If your event does not fit neatly into one of those, tell us anyway. We build custom lineups more often than not.
The single biggest decision is size, and it is driven by the room and the guest count more than by taste. Here is the range we field in Los Angeles.
Solo. A single saxophone, or keys, setting an effortless mood. Best for ceremonies, cocktail hours and intimate gatherings where you want live music without a stage.
Duo. Guitar and voice together. Warm, elegant and the most accessible entry point when the space or the budget is tight.
Instrumental trio. A refined jazz atmosphere with a light footprint, made for dinners, receptions and cocktail settings where conversation still has to happen.
Quartet. Four musicians balancing intimacy and range. Enough presence to fill a room, small enough to sit inside a garden or a rooftop.
Five to seven piece. The workhorse configurations for full receptions and mid to large events. This is where the night can move from background music through to a real dance set without swapping to a DJ at the halfway point.
Eight to ten piece. Full show band for galas, ballrooms and large brand activations, with the horn and vocal weight a high ceiling room needs.
Eleven piece and up. For grand celebrations we build custom ensembles beyond ten pieces, all the way to a full orchestra, shaped around your vision.
Strings. A strings duo, trio or quartet, or a solo violin or cello, for ceremonies and receptions that want a classical texture instead of a jazz one.
Band plus DJ. A live saxophone or percussion player performing over a DJ set. It is the setup corporate clients ask for most when they want the late night energy of a DJ and the presence of live musicians at the same time.
One note worth knowing before you choose: full upbeat dance sets need two vocalists, which means a six piece or larger. Smaller lineups are superb for cocktail, dinner and ceremony, and they are the right call for those moments; they are simply not built to run a dance floor.

A live band is only as good as the logistics around it. Every Los Angeles booking includes the following as standard.
Available as add ons: ceremony coverage with its own sound system, cocktail hour coverage in a second area, a DJ layered with the band, and specialty acts including LED saxophone and LED percussion.
Four steps, and the first one takes about two minutes.
1. Tell us about the event. Use the booking form: date, location, event type, start and end time, rough guest count, and anything you already know about the space. If the date is not locked yet, send it anyway and say so.
2. We come back with options. You get a proposal covering the lineups that suit your room, what each one includes, and what the night would actually look like hour by hour. If you are deciding between two sizes, we will tell you which one we would book and why.
3. Contract and date hold. Once you choose, we send the agreement. The date is not held until it is signed, which matters more than people expect on peak Saturdays.
4. The run up, then the show. Song requests and run of show come to us ahead of the event, logistics are confirmed with your venue, and on the day the band arrives, sets up and plays.
Our home base covers Los Angeles, Orange County, Ventura, San Diego and Santa Barbara. Inside LA County that means Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Hollywood, Downtown LA, Pasadena, Long Beach, the South Bay, Calabasas and the San Fernando Valley.
We travel beyond that regularly. If your event is outside the area, or overseas, ask; distance changes the quote, not the answer.
We are a working event band, not a showcase act. Our credits include the Wynn in Las Vegas for Wiz, now part of Google, the Four Seasons Silicon Valley, and a Ryder Cup VIP reception in New York, alongside galas, brand activations and corporate receptions. Three things clients tell us make the difference.
We read the room. The set is not on rails. If dinner runs long, if the toasts land quiet, if the floor fills early, the band adjusts in real time. That is the thing recorded music structurally cannot do.
One band covers the whole night. Cocktail hour, dinner, program and dance set do not need four different vendors. Fewer moving parts means fewer things that can go wrong at seven in the evening.
Live musicians are worth more now, not less. As more of an event gets automated, the human element becomes the part guests actually remember. For corporate hosts in particular, booking real musicians is a visible signal to a team that the company invested in the evening.
What happens after I send the booking form? We review the date, venue and guest count, check availability, and come back with a proposal covering the lineups that fit your event and what each includes. Nothing is committed until you sign an agreement.
Do you travel outside Los Angeles? Yes. Our core service area is Los Angeles, Orange County, Ventura, San Diego and Santa Barbara, and we regularly play dates further out, including out of state. Travel is factored into the proposal, so ask before you rule it out.
Can I enquire if my date is not confirmed yet? Yes, and it is worth doing early. Leave the date field blank or note that it is tentative. Knowing your likely window lets us tell you how much runway you have before peak Saturdays close out.
Can we hear the band before booking? Yes. Live performance footage is on our gallery page, and we can send additional video matched to the configuration you are considering.
Do you bring your own sound system? Yes, sized to the room, indoors or outdoors. If your venue or DJ is already supplying a PA, tell us and we will quote without sound so you are not paying for equipment twice.
Can we request specific songs? Three custom requests are included with every booking. If a song is already in our repertoire we can add it any time; if it needs a new arrangement written, we need it at least a month before the event.
Can you cover a ceremony and a cocktail hour in two different areas? Yes. When those spaces are separate, both need sound, so we usually put the full band in whichever area matters most to you and place a saxophonist over backing tracks in the other. You choose which is which.
Do you only play jazz? No. The foundation is jazz, including standards and bossa nova, and from there the band plays jazz arrangements of pop and Motown, swing, and full upbeat dance sets with the larger lineups. The style is tuned to your crowd.
